Celebrating the Life of Sandy Shaffer
Sandra “Sandy” Shaffer, co-founder of Son Shine Ministries, passed on to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon, December 15, 2025, at the age of 85. Her passing was peaceful, and her family was with her. While there is real sadness in saying goodbye for now, we are also experiencing a deep and steady joy because of her present reality.
Sandy loved well. She loved her family and friends greatly. And her love for Jesus was wholehearted. Her faith shaped how she lived, how she loved, how she served, and how she endured. Because of that, we do not grieve without hope. We miss her deeply, but we are confident that she is fully alive in the presence of the Lord she trusted and followed.
One Scripture that captures this moment well comes from 2 Corinthians 5. The apostle Paul speaks honestly about life in this world and then says, “To be away from the body is to be at home with the Lord.” Sandy is home. What an incredible reunion she must now be experiencing!
Many from the community of Azle, her home for more than 40 years, gathered for the funeral on December 20, 2025. The service, officiated by Sandy's son, David, with words of gratitude from her sons Steve and Tim, was a special time of remembrance and thankfulness.
